Asbestos Abatement at Christleton Hall University Campus
Project Overview:
UK Environmental & Asbestos Solutions Limited (UKEAS) proudly partnered with to undertake a significant asbestos abatement project at Christleton Hall, a Grade II listed building within the university campus. This prestigious building, constructed around 1750, was recently acquired in 2021 with plans to transform it into a state-of-the-art law college.
Historical Significance and Modern Transformation:
The ambitious redevelopment plans for Christleton Hall aimed to preserve the historical essence while modernizing the facility to accommodate 18 luxury apartments. Additionally, the project included constructing 24 detached houses and a two-storey office building that would serve as the headquarters for the Steven Morgan Foundation, enhancing the site’s utility and aesthetic value.
Asbestos Removal Challenges and Solutions:
As the appointed asbestos removal contractor, UK-EAS was tasked with managing both licensed and non-licensed asbestos abatement tasks crucial for ensuring the safety of the ongoing construction and future occupants. Our team expertly handled the non-licensed removal of asbestos-containing floor tiles and asbestos cement panels that were previously installed around various door frames.
Licensed Asbestos Work:
More intricate and hazardous were the licensed asbestos works, which involved meticulously removing Asbestos Insulating Board (AIB) debris located in the floor voids of the ground floor. Additionally, our certified professionals safely removed AIB ceiling panels from the basement, tasks that required strict adherence to health and safety regulations due to the friable nature of the materials.
Ensuring Safety and Compliance:
The comprehensive asbestos removal carried out by UK-EAS was essential not only for meeting legal and safety standards but also for paving the way for the safe progression of redevelopment works. By meticulously eliminating all asbestos risks from within the building, our team ensured that the subsequent construction phases could proceed without health risks, aligning with our commitment to safety and excellence in environmental solutions.
